HOCKEY.
NOTES AND COMMENTS. With'' the exception of one ladies' match, which will bo decided on Saturday afternoon, the season has come to an end, and the removal of the goal nots last week-end paved the way for the preparation of the cricket pitches. It is expected that the groundsman, Dunn, and on assistant, will be employed on the , grounds during the next six months in connection with the summer gamo. The _ advantage to the grounds should be considerable, and hockey players will be assured of first-class grounds tor next season. The co-operation of hockey and cricket interests should rapidly tend to put the playing fields in condition second to none in the Dominion. Four members of the local executive committee have passed the Military Medical Board, and are waiting to be called up for Trentham, namely, H. Richards, F. Moginie, E. E. Madden, and W. Rankin. The firstnamed has been relieved of the secretarial duties, and left yesterday on a short visit to his home in Invercargill. A. •C. Johns, assistant-secretary, has been elected secretary. PRIMARY SCHOOL NOTES. The school representatives will leave fol Rotorua by this morning's express to try their skill againßt the school players of that town. Matches will bo played on Thursday and Friday afternoons, and the tourists will return to town on Saturday, The combination in a strong one. capable of giving a good exhibition of the game, and should uphold tho prestige of local school hockey. The team will be under the management ol Mr. L. H. Norton, chairman of tho Auckland Association, and several masters will also travel with'the team. The personnel is: — Goalkeepers, L. Katterfoldt, T. James; fullbacks, L. Stretton, E. Hall, R. Fratcr: halfbacks. R. Penman. R. C'ordes, E. Church. R. Potter, H. Roberts; forwards, H. Jaggs, L. (Wilson. L. Walker, R. Howard. O. Fronde, R. Irwin, R. G. Carter, H. Emirali. Tho, team will meet at the Auckland railway station at nine o'clock. THE SEASON'S COMPETITIONS. The following tables show the final results in all the grades for the season: — FIRST GRADE (For Davis Gup).
LADIES' MATCHES. Mount Eden has definitely withdrawn its challenge to Training College for a match for the Belinore Cup. The latter team will therefore remain in undisputed possession for another twelve months. Technical College, winner of last week's tournament, will play the. challenge round against Omapore on Saturday for the Berneckor Cup. The game will commence at. two o'clock, and Mr. K. H. Parton will act as referee. With this match the Season will be brought to a conclusion. The successful' teams in the second-grade championship, and holders of th» Junior Cup, since its inception, ore as follows:— Technical College; 1912, Technical College; 1918, Mount Eden, 1914, Technical College; 1916, Whakatu.
