NORTH SHORE CLUB

'The report, which will be presented at the annual meeting of tho North Shore Rowing Club to-morrow evening slates that for the first time for some years the committee has to report a decrease in the membership. Thoy aie. nevertheless, proud of the fact that tho decrease was due to the large number of members (mostly active) who volunteered to assist the Empire in time of need. Three club members—G. Macfarlane. C.- Sinton, and S. Heald— given their lives for their country. The report also recorded the untimely death of Mr. J. C. Macky, vicepresident of, the club for many years, who lost his life in the deplorable sinking of the Lusitania. and the death of Mrs. J. C. Spiriley. a member of the Ladies' Committee and a. keon supporter of tho club for many years.

During the season 13 sots of trial races were held. The racing was always keen and provided much sport for active members. The dub was successful at last so'ason's regattas. The senior crew won the Ngaruawahia Championship Shield, the heavyweight juniors wore first at Ngaruawahia, the light-weight juniors were first at both Mercer and Ngaruawahia. the youths' four won the provincial championship, and the. light-weight maiden crew wae first at Ngaruawahia. The prize-money amounted to £40 Tho statement of accounts shows the club's position to be satisfactory considering the present unparalleled circumstances The following are the names of 57 past and present active members at the front privates where not otherwise mentioned:— •J.
