ALIEN TEACHERS BILL.

THE GERMAN PROFESSOR, [by TELEGRAPH. ASSOCIATION.] Wellington. Friday. A deputation headed by Mr. A. H. EBndmarsh. M.P.. and the Hon. T. W. Hislop waited on the Prime Minister to-day in connection with the Enemy Alien Teachers Bill-

Mr. Massey, replying, said he wanted the deputation to know that there was no antagonism on the part of the Cabinet or Parliament towards Professor von Zedlitz but a mistake had been made. He had been a resident in the country for many years, and had not applied for naturalisation. He had acted rightly in tenderinjr his resignation when the -war broke out and the college council made a mistake in not accepting it. It had been found necessary to discharge from the Public Service all unnaturalised enemy subjects, and, if it was necessary in those cases' was it not right that the same law should ar.r»ly to those paid indirectly by the State. The Bill would go before Parliament, and members would vote according to their ideas of what was right and wrong.
