VILNA ARMY COMPLETES ITS WITHDRAWAL.
UNSUCCESSFUL GERMAN EFFORTS TO CUT IT OFF.
SEVERE LOSSES INFLICTED ON THE ENEMY.
Petrograd, September 23.
It is announced that the withdrawal to its new position of the Russian army which was in the Vilna region has been completed. The Germans lost 250,000 men during the retirement in their vain endeavour to cut off the army.
