WEST END ROWING CLUB.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The 31st annual meeting of the West End Rowing Club-was held in the "boathouse, St. Mary's Bay, last evening, and a large number of past and active members were present. 'In .the absence of the president, Mr. J. Clark, the chair was taken bv Mr. W. G. Mason. In the course of his remarks, the chairman com-" plimented the club on the number of members present in spite of the large number away on active service. He considered the executive were deserving of great credit for the balance-sheet as presented, the amount of the assets shown being a record in the history of the clubHe had inspected the' beats and plant, and pronounced them as being in the best of condition and repair. The chairman read a letter from the : president, in which he handed to th} club a very handsome shield for annual competition among members, in memory of the late Mrs. Clark. In accepting this gift, the chairman referred to the ycjoman service rendered the dub by Mrs. Clark in past years, and Jhought that the shield should serve to remind the members in future Years what the club owed to this lady! The shield, which was handed over by * Messrs. J. Lowry, J. Bigelow, and T. Ussber. on. behalf of Mr. Clark, is a very handsome one, being of silver, with* the clubhouse and surroundings engraved, and mounted on oak and enclosed in an oak frame, with the following inscription, " The Mrs. John Clark Shield, in memory of happy days." The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. T. Peacock; president, Mr. J. Clark; captain, Mr. F. A. Carter; deputy-captain, Mr. W. E. De Audney; hon. secretary, Mr. A. L. Pegram; hon. treasurer. Mr. R. . H. ; Cooper; committee, Messrs. A. E. Lye,*, * A. Hunter, W. T. Cowley, G. C. Tbomo, son, T. J. Virtue, C. F. Nearv, W. N. Bright: election committee, Messrs.
