DOMINION AWARD. f HOURS AND MINIMUM WAGES. [by TELEGRAPH. —tress ASSOCIATION".] Wellington*. Friday. As the result of an agreement made at a conference between the New Zealand Federated i - low-null Employees' Union and the employers an award has been granted by the Arbitration Court and' filed at the Supreme Court. It is intended that the award shall operate as a Dominion award. The award provides: (a) For an eight hours day; (b) that any employer and his employees may mutually agree to make up tune lost by the weekly half-holiday by working extra time each week, not. exceeding two hours per day; and (c) that where the mil and stores work one and two shifts a weekly half-holiday shall be given, work to cease at noon; The usual clause relating to holidays and payment for overtime is inserted- The following are to be the minimum rates of wages: Roller man or shift miller. Is 4d per hour; oatmeal and barley miller, Is 4d ; purifier, la 3d ; smutterman, Is 3d ; assistant smutterman or tiptnau, Is 2d; kiln man, Is 2d; head storernau, etc., Is 3id; assistant storeman, Is 2d; packer, Is 2d; enginedrivers (steam), as in the enginedrivers' award in each district. For boys the rates of wages are to be 10s per week for the first six months, 12s per week for the second six months, rising thereafter by 3s per week for each period of six months up to £1 16s per week during the tenth six months. All casual and other workers in stores are to be paid Is 2d per hour. The award contains the usual preference and under-rate workers' clauses, and is to come into force on November 1, 1915, and continue in force until November 1, 1918.
