Mr. T. W. Fisher, Ucder-Secretarv for Native Affairs, who has been staving at the Star Hotel, is visiting Whangarei. He is expected to return to Auckland on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns left bv yesterdays mid-day express for Welhn" ton, where they will join the steamer lonic en rout* for London. Mr. J C. Burns accompanied them as far as Wellington.
Mr. George Esther, acting-town clerk of Whangarei, who has received the appoint ment of secretary to the Auckland Pr.-> vincial Patriotic and War Relief Association, terminates his present engagement on Saturday, when he will leave tor Auckland
Mrs. Maria Kilfoyle, widow of the late Mr. Francis Kilfoyle, died vesterdav at the age of 79 years. Both Mrs. Kilfoyle and her husband came to New Zealand from the south of Ireland in the same ship. arrived in Auckland in 1847, and were married some years later. Mr. Kilfovle was for a lengthy period in the service of the Provincial Government, and afterwards in the service of the Lands and Survey Department. He died some five vears'ago. Mrs. Kilfovle leaves an adult family. The interment will be private.
