SOUTH WALES SETTLEMENT

MEN THANK LEADERS.

RESUMPTION ON THURSDAY.

London, September 1.

At the Cardiff conference the miners accepted the settlement, but 42,000 ■> men are still idle, on the pretext that the agreement has not been signed.

The conference almost unanimously accepted the terms of settlement, and thanked the leaders for their able conduct of the negotiations. The miners who struck on Tuesday night justify their action as being in accordance with the decision of some days ago, and the fact that they were not officially informed that a settlement had been reached. It is expected that all the collieries will resume on Thursday.
