AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB. ' From the tunc that Auckland Trotting Hub acquired the freehold 01 Alexandra P.i rk some few years back, and the f'urasre-'us spirits identified with that: iv>tiv set out on n progressive policy which iiihr.-H'-oci the biiiiding up of stakes and the complete remodelling of the appointments at the Epsom ground, the meetings held th»r* hav.- increased in popularity 10 3 verv marked degree. The. annual meeting of members of the A.T.C. during ■the present week gave the president, Mr. John Rowe, an opportunity to state the aims of the committee for the further raising of the standard of Alexandra "Park, both in a racing sense and also in the direction of further improving the appointments on the Epsom ground. Though the A.T.C. is carrying a big financial .burden the committee has during the year very fully recognised the claims of tha various funds incidental to the war; and the president's pronouncement that the club hoped to contribute even a larger sum urine the coming year was delivered m that robust optimism, which revealed the cheerful spirit in the act of giving to a marked degree. There is a decidedlygood ring about the Auckland Trotting Club's affairs, and that such will continueI do not doubt and the coming season's programme should prove highly pleasing reading to those identified with the branch of sport so actively fostered at Alexandra Park.
