MOUNT ALBERT TRAMS.
SERVICE STARTS SHORTLY
Tramcaes will be running to Mount Albert very shortly. The difficulty which existed in connection with the requisite duplication of a short section of the line, at Morningside. has been removed by special legislation. When the Bill, which has passed through both Houses of Parliament, has been signed by His Fxcellency the Governor, the Earl of Liveri pool, there will only remain the formal I notification from the Public Works De--1 partment to the Tramways Company that I the service may be run, to enable the J company to act. This notification is expected to come to hand at any moment. The reconstruction work at Morningside j will merely consist of the laying of a short length of rail and the "taking up jof the present loop. This connection will be effected within two hours, and direetlv it is finished the company will commence the extended service. The new section of the line runs from the Morningside railway bridge to St. George's Hall, Mount Albert, just beyond the junction of the Onehunga and Mount Albert Roads I and in close proximity to the Mount Albert i railway station. The line is double for i the whole distance. It is proposed to ) institute a 12-minutes* service on week- [ days, the first car leaving Mount Albertj for the city at 6.28 a.iC and the last jat 10.52 p.m. The first car from the | city will leave at 6.46 a.m. and the last at 11.22 p.m. There will be a 24-minutes* service on Sunday afternoons.
