Mr. Justice Stringer, president of the Arbitration Court, leaves for Wellington to-day.

The Anglican Bishop of Auckland, Dr. Averill, left on a visit to the Waikato district yesterday morning.

Mr. E. A. Blundell, one of the proprietors of the Evening Post, Wellington, is at present on a visit to Auckland.

Mr. P. G. Withers, Commissioner of Stamps, is visiting Auckland for a feudays. He is staying at Stonehurst.

Mr. K. McLeay, managing director for (he Richardson Steamship Co., Ltd., left for Napier by the steamer Kahu late last night.

The Hon. W. Beehan. M.L.C., left for Wellington by last evening's express train, to attend the opening of Parliament tomorrow.

Mr. Robert Archibald, a member of the old Wellington firm of Scoullar and Archibald, which erected the Government offices on Lambton Quay and other large buildings, died yesterday at the age of 60.

Messrs. F. W. Lang, M.P. for Manukuu, J. G. Coates, M.P. for Kaipara, and J. S. Dickson, M.P. for Parnell, left Auckland by the express train last evening, to attend the opening of Parliament tomorrow.

The Rev. Herbert Watson, of Masterton, has been appointed vicar of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Wellington, in succession to the Yen. Archdeacon C. C. Harper, who has resigned and is leaving for England in August.

Mr. E. Nordon, secretary of the Canterbury Licensed Victuallers' Association, left Wellington yesterday for San Francisco, having been directed by his medical adviser to make a long trip abroad. He expects to return to Christcliurch in three or four months.

Mr. J. S. Bond, a member of the Auckland Harbour Board, who has,been suffering from ill-health for some time past, was able to attend the' board's meeting yesterday. Mr. Bond was welcomed back by the chairman, Mr. H. D. Heather, and the members present.

Mr. S. W. Luxford, president of the Auckland Agricultural and . Pastoral Association, left for Wellington by the mid-day express yesterday to join the Auckland deputation which will wait on the Prime Minister to-day in regard to Auckland's claims for increased shipping space.
