* The ' Otabuhu Borough _ Council met on Monday evening. Present: The Mayor, Mr. J. Atkinson, and Messrs- J. Wilson, A. Lowe, A. Gray, G. Wallace, H. J. ■ Hall, J. Todd, F. E. Field. ii. A report was received from Mr. Lockie Gannon, engineer, stating that the new saleyards road and embankment was progressing favourably, and that the number of men on the job'conld be reduced to 10, as the work was nearing completion and also that tho work on the Station Road drainage ; extension was completed in a satisfactory manner. The Birkenhead Borough Council met on Wednesday night. Present: The Mayojf Mr. J. P. McPhail, Messrs. C. Mason, R. Webb, E.G. Skeates, F. J. Stewart, A. Hadfield R. Shepherd, J. Leonard, and W. Sampson. iv Messrs. Napier and Smith wrote notifying that the extended area of the borough bad been gazetted. The Mayor stated that inclusion of the reclaimed .area at ".Chelsea, of over 14 acres, meant adding £3500 to the borough valuation. ? The Prime Minister, the Hon. W. F. Massej'i-wrote noting the offer made by Mr. Clement L. Wragge to donate a collection of curios on condition that a suiti able museum was provided, and stating that tie request for a subsidy towards the building was noted, and would be brought before the Minister for Internal Affairs. Mr. Wragge telegraphed extending his offer for three months. ■; It was 'decided to consider the question of a municipal 'bus service when discussing the next loan proposals. The chairman of the Motor-'bus Company wrote that there was every probability' of the company being established, and the cars running in about three months. '; The Mayor stated that about £100 had been collected in the Birkenhead, Chelsea, and Birkdale portions of the borough to--wards the Hospital Ship Fund.
