SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION'S SOCIAL.
The termination of the Auckland Suburban Cricket Association's season was marked by a happy gathering held at the Tiffin on Saturday evening, when tho members and friends of the association, to the number of about 120, met round the festive board. The Hon. P. W. Lang presided, and Host Crandall provided an excellent menu. A long and varied pros ram mo of musical and elocutionary items, interspersed with toasts, was gone through. A feature of the list was tho toast proposed by Mr. McKay, Allied troops, mothers of troopers, and absent friends," the Hon. F. W. Lang responding. Both speakers made feeling reference to the subjects of tho toast. Songs were rendered by Messrs. Lewis, St. Jliirlin, Cox (comic), V. Elliott, McCormiek. Piper. Burke. Kane, and Gentils. Mr. Garland proved a most efficient accompanist. As is usual at the present timo, a strong vein of patriotism ran through tho programme, Mr. Lewis making a, great impression by rendering a new song, " British Boys." the whole company entering with vim at the chorus, while a finished interpretation of Rudynrd Kipling's " Gunga Din" was presented by Mr. St. Martin. At an appropriate period the chairman handed to the winners of the senior competition. Brotherhood Club, which came through without a loss, the cup presented by Mr. Robert Yates. With only ono loss against their record, the Epsom team proved tho champions in tho junior section, and were the recipients of a, cup donated by Mr. H. Claudet.
