The correspond' of the Morning Post at Shanghai states that Japan delayed presenting the ultimatum to China owing to Brinsh mediation.
Reiner's correspondent at Pekin states that the demands China is still resisting are known as (Jroup 5. They include the questions of Japanese advisors, the purchase of Japanese- .nras, land ownership, schools, hos,-,..ta.js, and railway concessions in Southern China, and also questions relating to the province, of Fo Kien. These have been the main obstacle to settlement throughout the negotiations. Japan now offers to withdraw Group 5, except the demands relating to Fo Kien. reserving the other demands for friendly discussion in the future. Reuter's correspondent adds that a compromise was previously reached in regard to Fo Kien before the deadlock developed.
