FIRE IN A CYCLE SHOP.

IGNITION OF BENZINE.

[BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.]

Wellington, Sunday. A fire occurred in Mr. J. Boucher's cycle depot on Lambton Quay last evening owing to an employee using a lighted lamp while getting some benzine for a customer. The spirit became ignited, and a great blaze soon filled the shop. The fire brigade soon had the outbreak under control, but the stock was badly damaged by fire and water. The building was owned by the Allen estate. Mr. Boucher valued his stock at £1400. His insurances, which are in the Northern and Yorkshire Offices, amount to £900.
