MANUREWA RATEPAYERS.
CONDITION OF -THE ROADS.
Tms annual meeting of ratepayers of the Manurewa Road,* District was held on Tuesday. Mr. G. F. Druco, chairman of the board, presided. In the course of his annual report, Mr. Druce said the past year had been a very active one for the board, the sum of £850 having been spent on labour and material for the roads; several new formation , works had been carried out, and, with the exception of one instance, all the newly-formed roads had been metalled. The board had decided to uso as little scoria as possible, and with that object in view had called tenders for 500 yards of blue metal. Altogether some 650 yards had been put on to the roads this year. All the roads in the district, with the exception. of Brown's Road, between the Great South Road and the railway crossing, had an equal portion of the rates spent on them. . It was ,the board's intention*, if it went back to office,, to apply for a grant for Brown's Road, and rograda and metal it. The .filling-fa on Station Road had been completed, and the road reformed, widened, and metalled. Mr. Druce said he was pleased to state that the Manukau County Council had completed tho metalling of about a mile of the Weymouth Road. At the annual election, the three retiring members, Messrs. William Brown, Charles Coxhead, and Percy Roy, were re-elected by a, largo majority.
