CEREALS. "Wheat is firm. Flour has advanced a shilling. No Australian is offering. Barley is firm. Australian, Chevalier, is quoted at 41s to 435; brewing, 41s to 41s 6d, Oats are —New Zealand, 365. Peas are scarce New Zealand, Naples, 58s to 60s. Beans are firm New Zealand, 42s to 435. DAIRY PRODUCE. Butter is dull. Danish is weak. Business in colonial is restricted by a temporary shortage in supplies, owing to labour troubles at the docks. The choicest New Zealand is quoted at 130s and 1325; Australian, 128s. Cheese is firm, and unchanged in price. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following cablegram for its London office, under date 17th inst. :—" Tallow : We quote present snot values for the following descriptions : Fine mutton, 41s 9d : good beef, 38s 9d ; mixed, 36s 6d per cwt. The market is strong."

FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET. Business in the fruit and produce market during the week has been very heavy. Local fruit of even' description is in large supply, and prices are still low. There is no prospect of any immediate improvement. I'he potato market is again unsatisfactory, and a further fall in values, to the extent of up to 30s per ton, took place yesterday. Large quantities are offering, and stocks in store are not moving off as expected. Onions remain about the same, with ample local supplies to fill present requirements. Shipments from the South have already reached the market. Fresh egcrs have again advanced, and are verv scarce. Farmers' butter is wanted at hieher rates. The poultry market is still dull. During the last few days farmers have been offering wheat freely, and a considerable quantity has changed hands, millers still being free buyers. Growers have been very firm in holding out for their own prices, and the rates paid show a little advance over last week. Hunters and Tuscan are now selling at 6s 7d to 6s 7£d and Pearl at 6s 8d to 6s 9d at country stations, the highest prices being given at near stations. The wheat offering is mostly very prime, but a few badly smutted samples have also comc forward, and are only fit for fowl feed. Oats are still in keen demand, and are selling at 3s 6d and 3s 7d for Cartons, and up to 4s at country stations for Algerians. The latter, which are scarce, are mostly wanted for seed for the North Island. -sheaf chaff is difficult to obtain, and £5 is now being given for prompt delivery. Barley is not so readily salable as oatsand wheat, but much of the crop has now changed hands. There is not a large amount of business being done in potatoes, and growers are not inclined to sell forwardNo business is yet reported in peninsula cocksfoot, but some seed off the plains has been sold at 63d aDd 7d.
