SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
AUCKLANDERS WIN SHIELD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] N apieh, Thursday. The swimming championships were concluded this evening, It the 100 yds scratch breast stroke race. Atkinson was only 2-5s slower than his own world's record. The polo banner was won by Hawke's Bay after an exciting match in which a good deal -A feeling was displayed. One visitor and two loral men were ordered out of the water. The points for the YaJdhurst Shield are: — Auckland 35, Canterbury 28, Hawke's Bay 20. Wanganui and Wellington each gained one point. In the event of Welson suspension being endorsed, the position will be considerably altered. Results: —
