MT. ALBERT RATEPAYERS.
BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION. The annual meeting of the 'Mount Albert Borough Ratepayers and Electors' Association was held in the council chambers, Morningside, last evening. There was a good attendance, presided over by Mr. J. H. Fray. The chairman reviewed the work of the association during the past year. Refering to the Greater Auckland question he Si.id that while recognising the advantages to be gained by joining the city, the association was of opinion that before entertaining the question further roads of the Mount Albert district should first be put in order. This it was felt could be done while Mr. Murdoch McLean was at the head of affairs as Mayor. During the past year loans amounting to £29,500 were authorised by the ratepayers, but only £23,950 had been borrowed by the council. In addition to this £1500 was raised by debentures to buy plant. The chairman's report was adopted. The following were selected as candidates for the coming Borough Council election :—A Ward: Messrs. J. C. Entrioan and H. T. Mark wick. B Ward : Messrs. G. Knight and J. . Astley. C Ward : Messrs. J. H. Bra/inev and J. H. Fray. I) Ward : Messrs. C. H. Page and R. G is by. It was decided that a strontr deputation should be organised by the association to wait upon Mr. McLean with a request that he should allow himself to be nominated for a further term of office as Mayor. Officers of the association for the ensuing year were elected as follows :—President, Mr. T. Finlav ; vice-pre-**ents, Messrs. W. Johnson. R. Warren, W. Powell, and T. Battersby ; committee, Mcr-srs. F. Grayson, R. Taylor, J. Carrie, O. Blamev, F. Cory, A. V. Jones. T. Ivil, W. Hirst, H. Robinson. T. Smytheman, J. 11. Fray, and P. C. Langton.
