ADVANCE ON BAGDAD.
BRITISH FORCE MOVING.
REPORTED SUCCESS.

Tiflis reports that news has received of the success of a British force moving upon Bagdad.
Bagdad is giro*ted in the Valley of the Tigris, 270 miles inland from Basra at the head of the Persian Golf, which the British have already occupied. Following the course of the river is 500 miles from the Persian Gulf. In normal times Bagdad was the headquarters of the Sixth Turkish Army Corps, which garrisoned also the Basra and .Mosul vilayets. The population of Bagdad is estimated variously from. 70.000 to 200,000. tnd, perhaps., half-way between nay represent approximately the reality.
