THE PRICE OF BUTTER.
From this morning onwards the price to retailers of standard brands of butter will be Is 2id per lb, an increase of Jd per lbs This, after allowing for the expense of moulding the lib and jib pats and the expense of distribution, will be barely as remunerative as present English price*. Notwithstanding the present high prices, it was stated yesterday that the season promised to be much poorer than usual for the producer, for the several months without useful rain had caused such a reduction in output U to more than offset the high prices.
