BOXING.
LIGHT-WEIGHT CONTEST. [BY TELEGBAPE—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Napier, Thursday. The professional contest at Hastings between Peter Cook, of Christchurch, and W. Shutt, of Timaru, for tho light-weight championship of New Zealand and a purse of £40. was won by Cook on points. The Timara man put up a splendid fight and his supporters considered the verdict should have been a draw, but on Cook's display of science the refereo could not well do otherwise than allow him to retain the championship.
