Te Aroha, Thursday. Thk Piako County Council met yesterday, there being present Messrs. J. B. Thomas, ¥. Eastwood, F. W. Walters, J. Brady. A. <>rr, and C. Smith.
Messrs. Cranwell, P. Quane, T. Jelli- < hi? Scott Brothers, T. Wilson, Robert S<"<-,tt. and L. T. Scott, settlers on the Xgarua end of the diagonal road, peti-ti'int-d the council to repair certain parts i; their road. It was agreed that the work In- tarried out bv the settlers.

I lie amounts received from the Treasury tor various works in connection with the Public Works Department amounted to £576 10s.
The Public Works Department wrote ai>|- roving of the expenditure of the £ for £ grunt of £100 on Thomas Road. The Lands Department notified that it would not be possible to charge the £ for £ subsidy of £150 to a straight-out grant of eiso.

'i'he Department of Agriculture wrote retelling to the diveisity of opinion a.-, to whether the Noxious Weeds Act should be enforced in its entirety, and asking the council's opinion. -Special reference was made to the California!] thistle. The council was unanimously of opinion that the Act should be carried out.
