The Minister for Education, it was reported by the chairman, had authorised the following grants for schools: — Epsom, enlargement of school. £460; Hukerunui South, enlargement, £198; Locluiorrie. newbuilding, £143; Kieo, enlargement, £255; Kaikohe, enlargement, £360; Kohukohu, enlargement, £362; Kinohaku No. 2, newbuilding, £300. The architect was in-

structed to prepare plans and invite tenders as soon as possible. The Department notified that 3 grant of £322 fur the equipping of the Te Aroha .Manual Training School had been approved. Payment of the following accounts was authorised :—Administration at count, £1213: building account. £2289; manual and technical account. £2038.

The Finance Committee reported that a letter had been received from the Minis ter stating that he saw no immediate prospect of dealing with the large number of applications now before the Department fur expenditure on teachers' residences. Mr. E. B. Alexander was appointed audit of school fund accounts for the period ended December 31 last. It was resolved that the Department be asked for authority to sell the Te Moari school site and the buildings thereon.

It was decided that the solicitors be instructed to acquire, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, the site for the proposed infant school at Ponsonby : also that application b<> made for a grant for the enlargement of the Takapuna school, and that the correspondence regarding the proposed acquisition of additional land at the school be laid before the Minister.
