HANDICAP TOURNAMENT. SECOND DAY'S PLAY. Beautiful weather conditions prevailed for the second day's play of the handicap tournament now in course of progress at the Remuera Club's lawns. Satisfactory progress has been made with the various events, but owing to a few players remaining in all events there seems to be »' likelihood of a block in to-day's matches.. . [by telegraph.—press association.] DtWßDrjr, Friday. The New Zealand lawn tennis championship meeting was continued to-day in good weather ana before a large atendantce. I.he heat was not so great as on the previous day ana there was a good breeze blowing from the north, .but not sufficiently strong to interfere with play. One final was played, that for the ladies' doubles championship, the holders, Miss Gray (Auckland) and Misa Baird (Hawke's Bay) defeating Miss Brewster (Taranaki) and Miss Campbell (Otago) after a long and close contest. The finals have been reached in all other matches, and in singles Ollivier will meet Jennings, who this morning defeated the present holder, A. G. Wallace, of Taranaki. Ollivier is out of the combined championship, but the present holders are still in all the other events. The following are the results:— Men's Singles Championship.— round: Ollivier (Canterbury) beat Peaice (Canterbury), 6—2, 6—3, 6—4.
