Daroaviixe, Wednesday. Mr. Gordon- Coatf.s, member for Kaipara., has received notification from the Minister for Public Works that authorisation hj.s been given for the construction of tfb« extension of the Kaihu Valley railway from Te Rawhati to Donnelly's Crossing, a distance of four miles. Last session £10,000 was granted for the work. The projected railway will tap an extensive area of kauri and other millable timbers, and wili also serve the immediate interests of 130 settlers, and will bring into touch with the railway an immense area of fine pastoral country. The extension, moreover, will provide a connection svith the Waipoua State forest and its three hundred million feet of valuable commercial timbers.
