When Prince Akwood won the Spring Handicap (harness) in easy fashion at the A.T.C. meeting last month he registered victory in von' easy fashion, and quite a lot of keen enthusiasts are looking forward to his showing in the Steward's Handicap at Alexandra Park this afternoon with interest. It <s a saddle event he is engaged in to-day, and. of course, the class is letter than ho defeat/Hi in his last attempt. Prince Akwood also figures in tho Electric Handicap this afternoon.

St. Helena ran away from Ilaku over a circuit of the inner grass track at Ellerslie yesterday morning. If the former could only reproduce her track form she. should be capable of winning hurdle races, for she jumps well, and always registers good times in her gallops.

Bally go wan. Water-lily, Nimblefoot and Tho Glad Eye worm schooled over a couple of fences at ECei'slie yesterday. The latter unseated Titeey at the second fence, without serious results. Ballygowan afterwards finished in Jront. of the other pair over a circuit of the inner grass.

It would not be euuprising to note the visiting Southerners account for a fair sh .re of the stake monry offered at Takapuna next week, I.vr they are accustomed to the left-handed going and are all in great heart.

Prince Merriwee, is a regular visitor to the Ellerslie track, receiving the necessary preparation to fit him to run out the two miles attached to the rich Auckland Cup. He has come on considerably as a result of his efforts at the Ellerslie spring meeting.

Goldsize, who has been particidarly fortunate at Takapuna meetings, and who is one of the favourites for the St. Andrew's Handicap next week, pleased hi? admirers yesterday morning by the way he moved over a round of the inner grass in the early morning.

Kaween's full-sister, Fionntiala, who was eased in her work for a term by P. Conway owing to suffering from a cold, was sent along fast over three furlongs at Ellerslie yesterday. This chestnut gives promise of paying her way later on.

[ Amongst those indulging in regular work at Alexandra Park of late are plaster Park and Recommended, both of whom are engaged this afternoon. The former has good time to his credit over a milp, and may make matters interesting for competitors during the Otahuhu meeting.

Big things are exnected of Franzaine in the ricar future. This aged mare did not settle down in her engagements at the A.T.C. meeting last month, but is said to have shown signs of marked improvement of late.

Delenda and Signo dashed nicely over five furlongs of the inner grass track at Ellerslio yesterday morning, with nothing between the pair at the finish.

Lightning and Bisogno were sprinted in company on the two-year-old track at Ellerslio yesterday, shaping well for two-year-oldis.

Gold hunter and a companion made good time over six furlongs of the inner grass track yesterday. This track is not a very reliable guide.

Racing on the extreme outside, Kitty Bel lairs finished up in front of her stable companion, Tripoli, at the close of half a mile.

Glissando continues to show improvement sine-' finishing third to Arran and Loyal Arch in the Musket Stakes, and finished up nicely over a sprint journey on the wind yesterday morning in company with two stable companions.

Gold Necklet. who has already won two races fur Mr. .John Marshall this spring, is still in great form, and relished her sprint on the, inner grass track at headquarters yesterday.

F. J. Rao's well-bred two-year-olds, who have yet to sport silk, are being indulged in the right work at Ellerslie to fit them for Christmas racing.

The. grey Lupin representative in Rae's stable was schooled over a few obstacles at Ellerslie yesterday morning, hut. made a very poor showing.

Wereoa .Mid Prince Ru'us arrived at. the Harp of Erin, Eller.sbe, on Saturday in charge of M Duffin. to take part in tho Otahuhu Trotting Club's meeting. Both look improved since competing at last month's gathering.

Devastation finished just ahead of Miss Livonia at the close of a smartly run five furlongs at EHcrslio yesterday morning Glucien was beaten off. "

The Clad Eve (Tilsevl and Waitopa were schooled at Ellerslie on Saturday last. The latter promises to turn out useful later on.

Lady Dot was schooled over the pony hurdles at. Ellerslie on Saturday morning last, her exhibition being good!

Electrakoff bears an improving appearance at Ellerslie, and his days of usefulness on the turf .seem far from ended vet awhile.

Mullingar has been indulging in the right work to fit him for the opposition be is likely to meet at Takapuna.
