EXPORT OF BUTTER.

LARGE INCREASE SHOWN. SHIPMENT BY "RAKATA L TOTAL OF 40,000 BOXES. Large quantities of butter will be exported from the Auckland Province before the end of the year as the result of the satisfactory shipping arrangements which have been made. Next Monday the steamer Rakaia will commence loading 40,000 boxes, which are to be despatched to London. This will bring the total quantity of butter exported from the province this season to 141,084 boxes. These include 124,175 boxes for London, 15,690 for Vancouver, and 1219 for tjhe Islands. The shipments for the corresponding period of last season consisted of 124,090 boxes, so that there has already been a considerable increase in the export for this year.

The first shipment of butter from Auckland to London this season, consisting of 5081 boxes, taken by the Remuera, reached its destination on November 6. Information has not yet been received locally as to whether the consignment has been sold. On the London market New Zealand butter is now quoted at 126s to 128s per cwt. Calculated on the lower figure the shipment to be taken by the Kakaia should be worth £115,000 f.o.b. Auckland. On the same basis the value of the butter exported so far this season represents a total of £360,508 f.o.b. Auckland.

At the present time there are 60,000 boxes of butter in store in Auckland, and large quantities are still coming forward for export. It is expected that the lonic will also commence loading 25.000 boxes for London next week. This steamer will be followed by the Waiwera. which will load about 20.000 boxes at the beginning of December, Soon after the Tongariro will load dairy produce at this port? and thereafter the Buteshire and Mamari will commence loading.
