While on his world tour Mr. Charles Ba-gley, a member of the Auckland Harbour Board, ha-s made a point of examining the wharves in the various countries he visited. As a result of his observations he has nothing but praise for the wharf structures that have been erected at Auckland during the last few years. Writing from London, under date October 5. to Mr. J. H. Gunson, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. Bagley stated that he had not seen anything better than the wharves that were lieing erected at Auckland, and. in fact, there were very few that would compare at all favourably with them. "In my opinion," states Mr. Bagley, "the Auckland board has got an extremely capable engineer in Mr. W. H. Hanier. The ferroconcrete wharves of Auckland are the best wharves of the kind in the world, and stand as a testimony to the great ability of the. board's engineer." Our Dargaville correspondent states that those representative settlers who formed the executive of the North Auckland court at the recent Exhibitiou have been asked by the High Commissioner whether he can procure from them a supply of the excellent booklets on North Auckland which they so liberally distributed during the Exhibition season. The High Commissioner states that he is prepared to receive 5000 copies for distribution in Great Britain, if they are available, and is also prepared to pay costs in connection therewith. .
