(Received November 15, 7.30 p.m.)
London, November 14.
It is officially stated that the German attacks between the Lys and the sea arc less keen. The allies at some points have resumed the offensive. A German attack on Nieuport failed.
Attempts to advance south-east and east of Ypres have been checked. The Prussian Guard's attack south of Ypres was repulsed. We have advanced a kilometre (three-fifths of a mile) east of Bixschoote. We have made progress between the La Bassec Canal and Arras.
The struggle in the Argonne has been fiercely renewed. The German attacks have failed. Attacks by the enemy at various points in the Lassigny regions, north of the confluence of the Aisne and the Oise, and on the Aisne have been unsuccessful.
The Lokal Anzeiger estimates the Belgian losses on Wednesday last at 6000 killed and 8000 wounded.
