ENEMY FAIL TO GROSS THE YSER CANAL.
ALLIED ADVANCE SOUTH OF ARMENTIERES.
NEARING THE GERMAN WIRE ENTANGLEMENTS.

An official communique states that the action from the River Lys to the sea is less severe. German efforts to cross the Yser Canal failed, while their attacks northeast and south-east of Ypres were repulsed.
The allies gradually advanced during the last few days on the line southward from Armentieres to the Oise, and are now within :;50yds of the German wire entanglements. We captured Tracy le Val. in the Oise Department, and made slight progress at other points.
North of the Aisnc we repulsed German counter-attacks at Chavonne, Soupir and Berry-au-Bac, while some progress was made elsewhere.
