"SERIOUS BLUNDER."

TERRITORIAL PROSECUTED,

[BY. TELECEArH.FKESS ASSOCIATION.] Weixington, Friday. When a young man was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day with having failed to attend parades, it transpired that during the. period he was absent from the parades he was on duty guarding German prisoners of war on Somes Island. Counsel for defendant strongly criticised the action of the Department. The magistrate dismissed the information, but refused to allow costs, although he agreed that a serious blunder had been made.

It is understood that the officials responsible for the prosecution were unaware that defendant was serving on Somes Island, as he signed on under different authorities, and had not replied to notifications served on him in regard to non-attendance at parades.
