DIXMUNDE A HEAP OF SMOULDERING RUINS.
ALLIES STILL HOLD THE LINE OF THE YSER. GERMANS CLAIM FIVE HUNDRED PRISONERS. London, November 12. The newspapers point out that Dixmunde was merely a heap of smouldering ruins when abandoned. The allies retired a short distance, but strongly hold the lino of the Yser. It is officially stated that the enemy continued their effort without result. The enemy's counter-attacks at Lombartzyde were repulsed, while they made a vain attempt to debouch from Dixmunde on the left bank of the Yser. An official message published in Berlin states that Dixmunde was stormed and over 500 prisoners and several machine-guns captured.
