NEW FREEZING WORKS.

APPOINTMENT OF ENGINEERS.

[DT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS association*.] Wellington, Monday. Mr. B. GotrDrE, of the Islington Works, Christchurch, has been appointed chief engineer for the new freezing works at Port Darwin.

Mr. L. G. James, consulting engineer, of Wellington, has been engaged to prepare plans for the new freezing works at Whangare-i, and to supervise their erection. The construction will be pushed on with all possible speed, and it is anticipated that the works will be in full swing about July next —provided that it is possible to procure the machinery for installation by that time.

In addition to supervising the construction of the Whangarei works Mr. James will act in a similar capacity for the Farmers' Freezing Company at Taibape, whose works, it is expected, will be completed in readiness for next season's operations.
