SICK AND ACCIDENT SOCIETY.
The 10th anniversary of the Auckland Tramways Sick and Accident Friendly Society was celebrated last night by a smoke concert and social gathering in the Tiffin cafe. Mr. Paul Richardson presided over a very large attendance of members and visitors, and in his opening remarks explained that the society had been started 10 years ago with a membership of 25 and without any money whatever. To-day there were 500 members and the society had £1500 to its credit. A long toast list was honoured and speeches and musical items were given. Those who contributed to the programme were : —Messrs. Patterson, O'Doimell, D. Black, McDonnell. Duncan, Bickerton, Mudford, Aylet, P.lamford, Brinkman, Purcell, and Master P. Ward. During the evening presentations were made to Messrs. St. John Clarke and C. Harris, the society's auditors.
