COOL STORE FOR CHEESE.

A WELLINGTON PROJECT.

[by telegraph.—press association.] Wellington - , Wednesday. As a result of recent communications with the Department of Agriculture on the question of the provision of cool stores for cheese at Wellington, the Harbour Board to-night resolved to confer with the Department and representatives of cheese factories. The board is agreeable to provide cool storage on condition that the Government requires that all cheese shipped from Wellington pass through 'the board's store, except such graded cheese as may be transhipped immediately on arrival. It was estimated that a charge of 8s per ton would have to be levied.

The Agricultural Department has pointed out that this charge is higher than any made at other ports, and shippers may demur at payment thereof.
