CLEANING THE DEVIATION. [by TELEGRATH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. Good progress is now being made with the cleaning out of the deviation crosscut j at the 1000 ft level, and a distance of 435 ft has been cleaned up and put in order, leaving a further 60ft still to do to reach the face. Tho necessary ventilation for this work is still being provided by the exhaust fan at tho Waiotahi shaft without the aid of tho blower at the Hanraki shaft. A strong current of air is passing through the workings, although it js of a somewhat heated nature owing to the long distance it has to travel along the main crosscut.
