HOSPITAL BOARD.
ELECTION OF TWO MEMBERS. Two members of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, Messrs. J. G. Rutherford and Frank Dye, will retire from their seats on the board next month. Elections will be held to fill these vacancies on November 11. The board comprises 12 members returned by six contributory districts, in each of which a " principal authority " is appointed to conduct the elections, and as the term for which the representatives of each district are returned is the same iw that of the members of the principal authority, all the members of the board do not hold office during concurrent terms. Light members are returned by three districts, in which boroughs are the principal authorities, and they hold office for two years. Two are returned by a district in which a road board is the principal authority, and th« remaining two represent districts in which county councils are the principal authorities. As a result of the manner in which the elections are fixed, the number of members of the Hospital Board who retire is 10 in some years, eight- in others, and two in others, while in every sixth year there is no retirement of any member. Ten members were elected in April and May of last year, eight for two years and two for tWee years. Mr, Rutherford represents the combined district of Franklin County, Manukau County, Pukekohe Borough, and Papakura, Mr. Dye represents the combined district of Waitomata County. Rodney County, Warkworth Town, Now Lynn Town, and Helensvillc Town.
