KONIGSBERG LAST SEEN STEAMING SOUTHWARD.
OPERATIONS OF THE PEGASUS ON EAST AFRICAN COAST.
Wellington, September 22
The High Commissioner reports from London on September 20:—"It is officially announced that since the outbreak of war, H.M.S. Pegasus has boon working from Zanzibar, and has rendered useful service, including the destruction of Dar-es-Salaam, the capital of German East Africa, and the sinking of the German gunboat Mowe and a floating dock.
" The Pogasus was attacked by the Konigsberg while at anchor in Zanzibar Harbour. She was at the time getting her boilers cleaned and the machinery repaired. The Pegasus was completely disabled. It is reported that 25 were killed and 80 wounded out of her crew of 2M. The damage done to the Konigsberg is not known. She was last seen steaming southward.
An official revised list of the Pegasus's casualties, received from Capetown, states that 25 were killed and 52 were wounded. Ten are missing.
