A BUSY WEEK-END.

The Minister for Defence, the Eon. James Allen, had a very busy week-end in Auckland. Arriving here on Saturday morning, he reviewed the Auckland section of the expeditionary force at ten o'clock. In the evening he was the principal guest at a dinner given to the officers of the expeditionary force by Colonel C, T. Major, officer oommanding the Auckland district. °

Yesterday the Minister inspected the transport steamer Star of India, and also paid a visit of inspection to the forts. Last evening, in company with his private secretary, Mr. F. G. Matthews, Mr. Allen returned to Welllington by the Main Trunk express.
