POLICE COURT NEWS.
<»• CASES OF MINOR IMPORTANCE. Several minor cases were dealt with by Mr. E. C. Cutten. S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday. Convicted of insobriety, two first offenders were fined 5s each and one forfeited his £1 bail through non-appearance. Two second offenders, George Henry Cain and Mary McM an us, were each fined 10s. Convicted of a breach of her prohibition order as well as of drunkenness, Jessie Robinson washed £2, with an alternative of seven days' imprisonment. Harrv McLaughlin, who absented himself without leave from the s.s. Waimana. was sentenced to 14 days' hard labour", orders being given to place him on board should the vessel sail in the meantime. Having assaulted another man by striking him without provocation, Alfred Hutchinson was prohibited and given a fortnight in which to pay a fine of El. The use of obscene language resulted in Angus Morrison being sentenced to throe days' hard labour, whilst Reuben Manuel, who committed a nuisance, was fined £2. Charged with having recehed £25 in money and a silver watch, knowing them to have been stolen, John Ryan was remanded to appear at Wellington.
