SOUTH AFRICAN MEASURES ADVANCES ON EXPORTS. Capetown, September 14. General Smuts, Minister for the Interior, speaking in the Assembly, and referring to the food supply, j said the Government had guaranteed the war risks on all shipments from Canada and Australia. The arrangements had worked most satisfactorily. Referring to the exportation of wool, mohair, skins, and hides, exceeding in value, the markets for which had disappeared, he said that while awaiting normal conditions the Government had arranged that the stuff should be valued at the chief ports, and the banks would issue certificates to the extent of 50 per centum of the value against the Government's guarantee.
"MADE IN SWITZERLAND." GERMAN RUSE EXPOSED. London, September 15. The London Times exposes a scheme by which German manufacturers proposed to continue trade with Great Britain by selling goods marked " Made in Switzerland."
