Sydney. June 29. The Antarctic explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton, has invited Mr. Ernest Joyce to join his forthcoming expedition'. In a letter he states that he proposes to divide tho expedition into two sections—a Weddell Sea section and a Ross Sea section. The party in Weddell Sea will include the transcontinental party, while the Ross Sea section will consist of six men, who will lay a depot at the foot of Beardmore Glacier for the transcontinental party, and possibly winter at Cape £ vans. This programme will be adopted only if sufficient money be forthcoming, otherwise there will only bo the Weddell Sea ship and one small party for the transcontinental journey. _____________ £24,000 CONTRIBUTION.
