Stpket, June 29. A disastrous railway coUisnn was nar-. rowly averted to-day by the promptness of a guard named Godding.
A crowded suburban train was blocked at a bend in the line at Horacbueh, when Godding heard a densely-packed race train approaching. He warned the passengers to jump out, and himself ran back and stopped the approaching train in .the nick of time.
Many hundreds of lives had been en dangered.
