RAPID SETTLEMENT.
KINO COUNTRY DEVELOPMENT. [PBOM OUR OWN COEBESPONDHSI.] TATOARTOxn, Friday. TriE member for Taumarunui (Mr. C. K. Wilson) has completed a six weeks' tour of his electorate, the greater part of this time being spent in "the saddle. Referring to hie visit to the new settlement at Kopaki, near Mangapehi, which came into existence a few months ago when a land ballot was held, be stated that the settlement probably holds the record for rapid occupation. Already 50 or 60 settlors, with their families, are living on thoir sections in tents, many of them working for the present on the Toads, carrying out road contracts for the Government. "To make such a settlement a success," etates Mr. Wilson, "is not to leave the settlers alone after admitting them to the land, but to posh on with road construction as fast as possible, so that the land may be made profitable without delay." Mr. Wilson estimates that about 180 sections have been .settled during the past two years between . Taumarunui and Kopaki.
