GOOD TYPES EXHIBITED,

PRINCIPAL PRIZE WINNERS.

Tee 15th annual show of the Auckland and Suburban Poultry Association was

opened in the Trades Hall yesterday. During the afternoon and evening large numbers of peoplo attended the 6how, which will be continued until Saturday. The usual cat show will be held on Saturday.

[ The quality of the fowls on ishow is well up to the average, while, alt hough some prominent exhibitors are absent, the number "of exhibits is about the same as last year. An outstanding feature! of the show is the staging of the birds, all of which are caged in such a manner as to be shown to the best advartage. There are many good classes, and most fanciers were inclined to the opinion that- the silver Wyandottes occupied premier position. Among the Plymouth Rocks, Orpingtons, British Game birds, and Whito and Brown Leghorns wore many fine specimen's. A noticeable feature of the show was the disappearance <,of the oldfashioned broeds.

A specially fine Indian Runner uuck attracted the attention of breeders, who expressed little surprise at the announcement that the bird won the first prize at the Royal Show in Sydney. The winning duck in the ela.ss (or Pekins was also a very good i v pe of bird.

Iho .North Island championship fi.-s British Game cock was annexed I)}' A. Nixon, while tlio cup for the best British Game hen was won by J. and W. G. Mason. The latter breeders won the latdes' bracelet with the same hen, and A. Nixon secured a special prize for a Game pullot. In the class lor Wyan-clott-ca, special prizes were obtained by A. Caller (silver laced cockerel), \V. A. Hanson (silver laced pullet), F. A. Gibson (white cock), E. McDuff (gold laced cock), and Dunn and Sons (patridge hen). Special prizes for Leghorns were secured by J. Treloar (North Island champion.' for white ccckere)), E. J. Copas (white pullet md brown hen), J. H. Dunn (North inland championship for brown cockerel), 11. M. Smith (American white cock and pullet). Among the .Minorca classes the special prizes wore appropriated by H. James (black hen), H. Douglas (black cockerel), and Miss G. Wilson (black pullet). 0

Fanciers who won special prizes for Plymouth Rocks -were F. A. Skinner (barred English cockorol), R. M. Smith (barred American hen), Martin Bros, (barred American cockerel and white pullet), T. W. Beasley (white cock). A. P. Inglev carried off the prizes in the classes for Langshcns, and Stewart and Lansperg the prizes, including a cup, in tho Houdans classes. A special prize, offered for gold-spangled or pencilled Hamburg hen or pullet, was secured by J. Evans. Special prizes offered for Game Ba'ntams went to N. Hanson (pile pullet), D. Hannan (duck-wing cockerel), P. A. Syers (buff Pekin cockerel and pullet), Among the classes for ducKs, special prizes were won by Airs. Rich (old Pekin drake), J. D. Pugh (Rouen drake), Mrs. J. Scott (old Buff Orpington drake), R. Smith (Indian Runner duck under 12 months), J. B. Paterson (drake of any; other variety).
