HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
Sir,—From the Herald's report of tho Auckland Horticultural Society's annual meeting;, I gather that the blooms exhibited by "local growers (who m elude, I presume, myself) in the chrysanthemum cteeses wero' not up to last year's standard, but that some blooms grown about Wellington were better than the locallygrown ones. The reason for this is given as probably due to ft difference in climatic conditions. I very much resent this, as it is a clumsy attempt to bolster up the allocation of "prizes. The public did the judging after the show was opened, and the committee ought to have let it rest at that. W. F. Bucklaxd. Monovale.
