IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS
WELLINGTON PROPOSALS.

Wellington, Wednesday. A deputation of casual employees submitted to the Harbour Board to-night a scheme for the formation of an association or union of casual employees. The speakers said that the men were dissatisfied with the present conditions on the •wharves, and it wag desired to form a new body not allied with any other ,union or association. *
The board decided to ask the promoters of the new association to place full details before it at its next meeting.
The board adopted a proposal by Mr. J. Cobb that a committee inquire into the feasibility of settling married men in the Boards casual employ on land easily accessible from the city, at a rental to be fixed so as to cover interest, depreciation and sinking fund.
