A petition in bankruptcy has been filed by David Robertson, storekeeper, of Clovedon, trading as' "Robertson Brothers." The first meeting of creditors will be held on March 31, at 2.30 p.m. An unoccupied house of seven rooms at Inland Bay, Wellington, owne(J by Larney Bros., of Te Aroha, was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. The house was insured for £600 in the Alliance Company. —(Press Association.) During the past few years a large quantity of white pine from, the Waimarino mills hac been sent, to Australia. In 1912 the mills under the direction of the Rangitikei Sawraillers' Association exported 2,600,000 super, feet of white pine and 2,000,000 super, feet in 1913. The first really extensive attempt to past orally settle gum land territory is ' being made • with an area of 30,000 acres lying between Dargaville and the West " Coast.' The block some 30 years ago was acquired by Mr. Tinne for 5s per acre, and up to the present has been the leading guinfield in North Auckland. Our Cambridge correspondent states that Mr. C. Channing Buckland, who a coup.'.e of years ago imported a herd of pedigree Holstein cattle from Canada, has gone a step further, and ' purchased in the South 22G Ronjney Marsh ewes and six rams, all registered in the New Zealand Romney Marsh Flock Book. Mr. Buckland, whose farm •is situated at Monavale, near Cambridge, intends breeding specially for a class, of-Romney suitable for the Auckland Province, combining a strong constitution and a heavy, dense fleece.
