Each party submitted a schedule a.- the basis of an industrial agreement, and 'he principal points at variance were the rates of wages and rate of overtime during certain hours. The current award allows the. minimum payment of Is per hour, and the employers consider there is no valid reason why this rate should be inciea.-ed. The society has asked that the minimum rate of wages be fixed at Is 6d per hour. The parties are in agreement as to the hours to be worked per week, but in regard to overtime, the society has asked that a variation be made in the present arrangement, so that time and a-quarter be allowed up to ten o'clock and double time after ten o'clock. The present arrangement allows time and a-quarter to ten o'clock, time and a-half from ten o'clock to midnitrhf. and double time after midnight. The society desires to have the suburban radius reduced from two miles to one and a-half milts. The employers have in effort offered the members of the society an equivalent to the Is 6d per how they are asking, in that they offer to make a tool allowance of Ijd, thus bringing the minimum total to Is 6/1 per hour.
